In present-day Lagos, all of Surulere tunes in each weeknight to Auntie Bisi, the sharpest agony aunt on the radio, never guessing she is Baba Femi, a seventy-one-year-old retired bus conductor with a convincing falsetto and a drawer of borrowed headwraps. When his granddaughter Tola writes in asking whether to quit her engineering degree and elope with a talking-drum player, and the station promises Auntie Bisi in person at Friday's Independence Day fair, Femi must choose between honest advice she'll hate, the answer she wants, or unmasking himself before the whole neighbourhood.
